My Story

What if it’s not about finding “balance” but about creating harmony?

As women, so many of us feel that we need to “do it all”, “have it all”, and “be it all” all at once. Yet, there are so many important things (and people) that get in the way… that delay us… that make us feel like balance is always out of our reach.

I know I’ve felt that way through the course of my life and career – experiencing both the joy and stress of its seasons.

What if it’s not about finding “balance” but about creating harmony?

Growing up in Charlotte, NC, I struggled with weight and body image issues. My parents put me on Weight Watchers in 5th grade, which was both a blessing and a curse. Though I learned to eat healthy, I also internalized that my beauty and worth were determined by some number on a scale. I was 46 years old when I finally busted that myth!

I got into the world of business in high school, doing everything from wrapping Christmas gifts to helping a local store systematize their shoe inventory. I had big dreams to move to Atlanta and open a restaurant – but instead, I married my college sweetheart Jimmy, and in just five years we had all four of our children! It became my new dream for quite some time, while others headed for the back burner.

As our children got older, I worked on how to get fit and eat well without that diet/exercise rollercoaster. Inspired to help others, I became a personal trainer and got multiple certifications – discovering how to make good, healthy food, embrace yoga and meditation, and go deep for real healing within myself – and guiding other women to do the same. Along the way, I even started both a coaching practice and a yoga studio.

Most recently in my own brilliant second act, I’ve founded and am leading a wellness product company, Huntsboro Hemp Company, as its CEO and President. We are dedicated to producing high-quality, organic CBD products to improve the wellbeing of our customers globally by helping to reduce pain, anxiety, inflammation, gut issues, and sleep issues.

And throughout these many adventures, I have often been where you are right now. Even recently, I have struggled leading a company while being a parent to adult children and serving as my parents’ primary caregiver. I’ve made choices that I love and others I regret. I’ve had to learn how to put boundaries in place though at times, that’s felt impossible.

The thing I’ve realized: balance isn’t the right goal, but harmony can be. So many of us are looking balance, but it’s so elusive and flat. Harmony is greater and more beautiful because it’s not about equally weighing your time or energy, but about flowing your time and energy into things as the symphony of your life plays on. Sometimes you will need to give more to one instrument (like work, an aging parent, or a child), but it’s meant to be for a measure – not forever.

In all that I do – from speaking, to podcasting, to hosting our Radiant Soul Sisters community, what I want you to know is no matter what measure you’re in right now YOU can experience work-life harmony. You are wonderful. And there are moments and seasons when your music needs to be heard – not only for you, but for all of us whose lives I know you can change. I’m here so you can let it be your time to shine.
